Coalition governments are formed on arithmetic but run on chemistry, says Narendra Modi at Delhi rally: Highlights

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi is greeted by leaders as he arrives at Japanese Park

New Delhi: Narendra Modi, who just five days ago led a massive rally in Bhopal, holds mega-rally in Delhi. Below are the highlights of his address:

  • Shri Nitin Gadkari ji, Shri Navjot Singh Sidhu ji, Delhi is a place where Bharatiya Janata Party has 'vijay hi vijay' - Vijay Goel, Vijay Sharma, VK Malhotra.
  • No one would have seen such a huge rally till now in India.
  • I want to wish all the party workers from the bottom of my heart.
  • I also want to salute Delhiites, who have created history here.
  • I want to bow down to lord Varun for the rains. It is beautiful weather.
  • Nation-formation is the responsibility of the people as well as the government. Governments are the strength of the people but Delhi is burdened by governments.
  • In Delhi, there are multiple governments - one belonging to 'maa', one to 'beta' and another to 'damaad'. Apart from this, there is a coalition government too.
  • If anybody is happy here in Delhi, it is the Delhi Chief Minister. She doesnt have any work except 'cutting ribbons'.
  • If there is a law and order problem, she blames the Centre. She passes the buck up or down.
  • When girls are raped in Delhi, the Delhi CM portrays a very motherly image and then tells the girls to be home by early evening. Any mother, any family can tell their daughters to stay home. What is the CM doing? What is her responsibility?
  • Commonwealth Games has destroyed India's credibility and robbed it of sportsman's spirit.
  • One should watch others and learn... like China and Korea, which showcased themselves at the Olympics and attracted global attention.
  • Such games are a vehicle of branding the country in the world.
  • Delhi government is like the drunkard who stopped buying newspapers after it carried reports on the evil consequences of drinking and his wife forced him to quit liquor.
  • When this government is mired in corruption, instead of finding a solution, it stops functioning. This government is paralyzed.
  • The present UPA government is immersed in 'Gandhi-worship'. It means they worship the notes which have Gandhi's image on it. This government is so corrupt that you can't count the money, you have to weigh it.
  • India wants Swaraj. But Indians cannot find it anywhere. Today, the demand is for good governance or sushasan, swaraj.
  • Kushasan is like diabetes and it destroys the country. So it is our prime duty to give our nation Sushasan.
  • Nations smaller than us are striding ahead today, way ahead than us.
  • It is only us which is marching backward. India, a country of billions, has become the target of jeers.
  • For how long will the unemployed youth roam around without money and a job? For how long, oh youth, you will beg for money from your parents? The youth need jobs. They need to be educated and trained and be assured of jobs.
  • NDA govt provided employment to 6 crore people in 6 years, and UPA between 2004-2009 has given employment to only 27 lakh people.
  • This Congress government has to be thrown out for any good to come to this country. If you need jobs, if you need betterment, you need to throw out the UPA.
  • People tell me, 'You always criticise UPA government, what are you going to do?' My dear friends, look at Delhi, the capital of India. There are several places in the capital which do not get electricity for 24 hours despite having numerous power stations producing 20,000 MW power.
  • All the UPA's success stories are run by the states, look at what happens to central departments like Railways.
  • Railways is under Delhi government. In 1980, Railways was 61,000 kilometres and in 31 years, has only seen additional lines of 3000 kilometres. Look at what happened to the aviation sector - loss of Rs 54,000 crore in seven years and a 30,000 crore revival package.
  • The PM was prostrating himself in front of Obama - marketing India's poverty. He should have stood tall and said we are a young country - what a shame.
  • This poverty you speak of Mr PM, is it a state of mind? That is the way the 'sehzaada' (prince) defined it. The country is apprehensive about what the PM will say to Nawaz Sharif.
  • I am hurt by an incident. Yesterday, Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif invited Indian media for breakfast. And while they were eating, he called Indian PM a 'dehaati woman'. We can fight with the PM on policies but this is an insult to the country.
  • We will never tolerate this. From where did Nawaz Sharif get the audacity to talk like this about our PM, who is much elder than him? It is because Mr Prime Minister is not respected within his party itself. His own party calls him 'nonsense';  Congress ke vice president ne PM ki pagdi uchal di hai.
  • The PM will meet Mr Sharif today. India wants to see if you can talk to him eye-to-eye. Because, you have, for the past few years, have just stopped talking.
  • I don't care what the two leaders talk about. But Mr PM, you must confront the Pakistan PM on the beheading of our soldiers.
  • I want to ask UPA: PM declared that he wanted to work under the shahjade. But I want to ask UPA senior leaders if they want to work in tandem with the Constitution or the shahjada?
  • The country needs a dream team in 2014, not this dirty team.
  • This  government has no vision - look at all the budgets and plans, only the dates change.
  • India @ 75 - poor should be able to get food, youth should be employed. Every man, every village should have a dream to move forward. I have faith that we can do this.
