Centre's word on Telangana 'likely on Monday'

Kadapa (Andhra Pradesh): Union Minister of State for Steel, A Sai Pratap, said on Sunday the Central Government is likely to make a "satisfactory" statement on Telangana issue by Monday night.

Talking to mediapersons in Kadapa, he said the Centre and the Congress high command are considering all aspects of the problem that erupted in Andhra Pradesh following the announcement by Home Minister P Chidambaram on Telangana. He said the Centre's statement will satisfy the people of all regions.

All MPs of Rayalaseema and coastal Andhra regions have successfully conveyed the feelings of the people to the government, Pratap said.

He recalled that Congress had stated in its manifesto in 2009 elections that it does not have any objection for Telangana and said that all political parties have given their consent for the formation of Telangana as a separate state.

"The Central government has taken the decision to save KCR," he added.

The Union Home Minister's statement had some ambiguity and created lot of uproar in the state, he pointed out.

He added that the state assembly has to pass a resolution to bifurcate the state and the same has to be sent to he Central government by the Governor with his recommendations.
