BSP's Founder Member Deena Nath Bhaskar Joins Bharatiya Janata Party

BSP's Deena Nath Bhaskar has said that he has joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Uttar Pradesh

Bhadohi, Uttar Pradesh: A month after resigning from the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), its founder member and former minister, Deena Nath Bhaskar has said that he has joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and a formal announcement will be made on May 14.

"I had resigned from the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) on April 4 and after detailed discussion with my supporters I have taken the membership of the BJP," Mr Bhaskar told PTI.

"A formal announcement to this effect will be made in a public meeting at the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Park in Bhadohi in the presence of state BJP president LK Bajpai and other senior leaders," Mr Bhaskar said.

When asked about contesting elections, he said "if the party gives me a ticket, I will contest the 2017 Assembly polls from Auraiya constituency."

Mr Bhaskar was the health minister during the Samajwadi Party (SP)-BSP coalition led Uttar Pradesh government in 1993 and had later quit the BSP to join Samajwadi Party in 1996. He returned to the BSP in 2009.
