Shillong:
The Governor of Meghalaya has said that the Armed Forces Special Powers Act should be withdrawn on a temporary basis.
He expressed the opinion at a two-day meet of the DGPs of northeast in Shillong. Several others at the meet, including the representatives of Ministry of Home Affairs, seemed to be in agreement with the Governor's views.
This comes a day before the ninth anniversary of Irom Sharmila's indefinite fast demanding a repeal of the AFSPA.
