A domestic fight at a home in Delhi ended in a tragedy when a 31-year-old software engineer died after he was allegedly beaten to death by his in-laws.
The incident took place this morning when an argument broke out between the victim, Vinay Gupta, and his wife, Rekha, over giving medicine to their child. During this time, Rekha left the house after contacting her family members, who later arrived at the couple's residence in Delhi's Nihal Vihar. Around 10 minutes later, she returned with her two brothers, sister-in-law, father and uncle, along with other family members.

CCTV footage from the incident showed Rekha wearing a red suit and her sister-in-law in a blue suit. The footage also purportedly showed Rekha's two brothers, her father and another man in a car.

Subsequently, they began assaulting Vinay.
According to the victim's mother - who was living with the couple - she had stepped out to arrange water and refreshments for the visitors when the alleged assault began. When she returned, she found her son being attacked. She tried to intervene and called for help, pleading with them to stop, but the assault continued, his family members said.
The victim's family said his in-laws strangled him and inflicted blows and kicks on his chest. They alleged that the attack was a part of a pre-planned conspiracy, claiming that Rekha had switched off all the CCTV cameras in the house before the incident.
Minutes after the assault, Vinay's neighbour was carrying him on his shoulder to take him to the hospital. Rekha's family members were also seen standing behind him. Soon, the victim was taken to a hospital where doctors declared him dead.

Rekha's brother
Vinay used to work at Adobe - a Noida-based software company - and had an annual package of around Rs 60 lakh.
He had married Rekha around three-and-a-half years ago. The couple had twins - a boy and a girl - who were born around four-and-a-half months ago.
At the Delhi home, Vinay and his wife lived on the third floor of the house, while his parents lived downstairs. According to his family, Rekha used to cook separately and alleged that her brother had earlier threatened to kill Vinay over minor disputes.
Police have arrested four people in connection with the case - Rekha, her two brothers and one sister-in-law.
