Shimla:
Eleven persons, including two jawans of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), were killed today when a state bus fell into a gorge near Sholtu on the Hindustan-Tibet National highway in Himachal Pradesh, police said. 27 others were injured, ten of them seriously.
The bus, carrying around 40 passengers including the 11 ITBP jawans, was on its way from Rekong Peo in Tribal Kinnaur district to Keylong via Rampur-Luri, Kinnaur SP Veena Bharti told PTI on phone.
Rescue and medical teams rushed to the spot and all the bodies were recovered. The injured have been rushed to hospital, she added.
Two ITBP jawans, two Home Guard jawans and the driver of the bus were among the deceased.
The cause of the accident could not be ascertained immediately.
