Once the optic nerve has dried up due to advanced glaucoma, nothing can be done to repair the damage and improve the sight. This is why it is so important to detect and treat glaucoma at the earliest stage. I want to remind one thing that all blood relatives of the sufferer i.e. sons, daughters, brothers and sisters should be checked to screen for glaucoma by seeing an eye specialist as this disease is hereditary/familial condition specially who are above 40 years of age.
