Aim of the treatment, in acne vulgaris, is to minimise scarring, with the least possible medication. If the response is not good, one may have to change the dose or the medication. Also find out if there are any other aggravating factors, as the medication will have to be individualised. Once controlled, the medicines are reduced to the maintenance level, which has to be continued till the tendency for acne subsides spontaneously.
