How are haemangiomas treated in children?
Question
My son is 9 months old and one week after his birth a haemangioma developed on his head. The doctors said that it may subside with time but till now there is no improvement. What should we do now? What if it starts bleeding or got hit by something. What precautions do we have to take?

If it is not a very big haemangioma, you should give little more time as many of them regress spontaneously with time. However, if it is very big or enlarging rapidly some medications can be tried to shrink its size and if that does not work it can be removed surgically. Most babies with haemangioma do not require surgery.
