New Delhi:
We have waited long for
US-based Indian actress Freida Pinto to star in a Hindi film. After her Oscar-winning film
Slumdog Millionaire , she became a Hollywood sensation and we saw her working in big projects like
Rise of the Planet of the Apes,
You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger and
Knight of Cups. So if you are wondering if she would be back in India to star in a Hindi film the 32-year-old actress clears the air. "I have no problem working in Hindi language films. In fact, I worked in a half Marwari film
Trishna when I couldn't even speak the language. I had to learn it," Freida told IANS.
"The thing is not that who is in the film. It's the story which is important for me," said Freida on the sidelines of an event where Google unveiled virtual exhibits -- "Women in India: Unheard stories".
About her next project, Freida told IANS, "I've a fantastic film coming out next year. It is directed by Tabrez Noorani, who is an Indian. He was one of the producers of
Slumdog Millionaire. He has done a fantastic film called
Love Sonia. It also has Anupam Kher and Adil Hussain. So, yes, I am doing Hindi language films. Also, I do speak in Hindi."
The film tells the story of Sonia, a young Indian village girl whose life changes when she is entrapped into the global sex trade network. The film, which has new comer Mrunal in the lead, also stars Richa Chadda, Demi Moore, Manoj Bajpai, Rajkummar Rao and Sai Tamhankar.
Freida also has been supporting the Global Citizen movement which socio-political issues like Malnutrition, sanitation, corruption and unemployment. She recently visited Mumbai to Coldplay's concert by Global Citizen India.
