New Delhi: Actor Uday Chopra tweeted an invite to actress Nargis Fakhri for a trip to Rome on Thursday evening, and we do not know what to make of it. The 37-year-old actress has been
rumoured to be dating Mr Chopra for a while now. In May last year, reports of an alleged break-up between Nargis and Mr Chopra started doing the rounds on the Internet. Uday Chopra however, dismissed the rumours as baseless and also shared a status update of sorts. However, on Thursday, Mr Chopra addressed Nargis and wrote: "I wanna go to Rome in April. Nargis Fakhri wanna join me?"
This is what we are talking about:
Ahead of the release of Nargis Fakhri's 2016 film
Azhar, the actress was missing from most of the promotional duties, sparking rumours that she suffered a nervous breakdown after Mr Chopra called off their impending wedding. Nargis apparently was away in New York.
Uday Chopra tweeted saying that all of this is untrue and added that he and Nargis are just "close friends."
Meanwhile, Nargis was also shooting for the films
Housefull 3 and
Banjo. An official statement on behalf of the actress said she was "exhausted" because of work. "Nargis has been extremely overworked working on three films simultaneously over the last year. For someone who is used to doing one film at a time, this was quite a bit for Nargis. In addition, she has been unwell right through the
Azhar promotions with multiple injuries - torn hamstring, anterior knee ligament thinning and mild socket dislocation along with burning of the stomach lining due to lead and arsenic poisoning. Due to these multiple issues and her overall exhaustion, she had a fever of about 101 degrees right through her promotions," read the statement.
At a media interaction in August last year, Nargis was asked about her alleged break-up with Uday Chopra, and this is how she dodged it. "Your question is irrelevant, so it's quite sad. I don't think you should continue," Nargis told a journalist, reported news agency IANS. Nargis was speaking at the trailer launch event of her last film
Banjo.
