Supreme Court dismisses rape charges against Madhur Bhandarkar

At times when I refused, he raped me."
  • Police submitted its summary report the same year stating that there was no evidence of rape against the director. In 2006, the police asked the court to dismiss the case against Mr Bhandarkar as they found Preeti Jain’s allegations to be false. The trial was stayed and Preeti Jain moved the Mumbai court against that order.
  • In September 2011, the Mumbai court rejected the police report and ruled that Mr Bhandarkar would be tried for rape.
  • In November last year, the Bombay High Court had granted bail to Mr Bhandarkar on a bond of Rs. 30,000 and two sureties.

The court had stayed criminal proceedings against Madhur Bhandarkar in April this year.
