Nishant director Shyam Benegal and co-star Shabana Azmi. He captioned the picture: "Mommy boss at Cannes. A few light years ago." The vintage tinged picture shows Shabana Azmi conversing with an unidentifiable official while Smita Patil and Shyam Benegal looking around. The commenters immediately started comparing the fashion scenario at Cannes compared in the Seventies to the present day. "I love how they are embracing our culture in saris. Unlike today," read one comment.

Shabana Azmi has tweeted a picture from the same trip earlier this year and echoed the same thought as the Instagram users commenting on Prateik's post. Shabana Amzi wrote: "In Cannes 1976 for
Nishant in official section. The simplicity of it all. Film was important not the clothes."

Nishant was nominated in the Palme d'Or category at the Cannes Film Festival in 1976. The film also featured actors Girish Karnad and Amrish Puri. Of their trip to Cannes, Shabana Azmi revealed that she and Smita Patil walked down the streets wearing
saris 'for attention.'
Prateik Babbar was born to actor politician Raj Babbar and his second wife late actress Smita Patil. Smita Patil died a few months after Prateik's birth and Raj Babbar returned to live with his former wife Nadira Zaheer with whom he has a son, Arya, and daughter, Juhi.
Prateik, a former drug addict, was raised by his maternal grandparents.
