Vidhaata starred Sanjay Dutt, Dilip Kumar, Sanjeev Kumar, Shammi Kapoor, Padmini Kolhapure, Amrish Puri, Madan Puri and Sarika. It was the highest grossing movie of 1982.
"Even at the age of 79, he was a representative of the youth. His spirit was so young and youthful. He was an inspiration to the new generation," said Ghai.
Rockstar, which stars Ranbir Kapoor and American model Nargis Fakhri in the lead roles, is being helmed by Imtiaz Ali and is set to release on November 11.
"He even told me about shooting with his grand-nephew Ranbir for his upcoming film
Rockstar. He had shot sometime back. He was very excited and was looking forward tothe movie," added Ghai.
