National Best Friends Day, celebrated on June 8 annually, serves as a reminder of just how important friendships are. Friends play many roles in our life, taking on the mantle of family, mentor, partners and more. From books to music, the bond of friendship is celebrated across art forms. Bollywood too has given us several examples of iconic friendships. From Jai and Veeru of Sholay to Rahul and Anjali of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Bollywood films have given us friendship goals ever so often. And, what better day than National Best Friends Day to take a walk down memory lane and revisit some of these iconic on-screen friendships.

1. Jai and Veeru – Sholay

Sholay, the timeless piece of art, needs no introduction. The 1984 film has given us many iconic moments and music to remember and revisit. Of all things that are wonderful about this movie, the friendship between Amitabh Bachchan's Jai and Dharmendra's Veeru tops the list and has stayed rent-free in our hearts. 

2. Sameer, Akash, Sid – Dil Chahta Hai

 Dil Chahta Hai is a classic for many reasons but the core of Farhan Akhtar's directorial debut is the friendship between the three lead characters. Played by Saif Ali Khan, Aamir Khan and Akshaye Khanna, the film portrays the real essence of friendship and how true friends always find a way back to each other.

3. Rahul and Anjali – Kuch Kuch Hota Hai

No one can forget the friendship between Rahul played by Shah Rukh Khan and Anjali played by Kajol in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. One of the most famous dialogues from the film, “Pyaar dosti hai,” has defined friendship and love for generations.

4. Rancho, Farhan, Raju – 3 Idiots

In 3 Idiots, the friendship between the lead characters played by Aamir Khan, R Madhavan and Sharman Joshi is unconditional, pure and all kinds of fun. They deal with death and birth, losses and triumphs while standing by each other.

5. Arjun, Kabir and Imraan – Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara

Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara is another film that gave us major friendship goals. When three friends take a vacation and go through life-changing events, we can't help but relate to them. Arjun played by Hrithik Roshan, Imraan played by Farhan Akhtar and Kabir played by Abhay Deol are charming, funny and brave. Honestly, you cannot help but fall in love with them.
