The latest episode of Koffee With Karan Season 7 saw the Kapoor cousins - Arjun Kapoor and mom-to-be Sonam Kapoor - on the Koffee couch. All we can say is that the episode was all about S and M (in KJo's words). FYI: Not Sonam and someone. S, as KJo said, stands for the OG “sensational” Sonam Kapoor. And M goes to Arjun Kapoor. Reason? He has been the KWK “mascot”. Quite creative, isn't it? The stylish duo made us go ROFL. There was Koffee. Gossip. Confessions. And, of course, a lot of rib-tickling moments. Well, there was one more thing that caught my attention. It was Sonam Kapoor's take on this year's Cannes Film Festival. Did you know she wasn't aware of who represented India on the red carpet this time? The actress made this confession on the couch.
When Karan Johar asked Sonam Kapoor, “Do you think Cannes had a good Indian showing this year?” Sonam replied, “She [Deepika Padukone] looked amazing.” And, the next moment, she asked, “Who else was there?” To this, KJo said, “There were many. There was a wide representation. But I don't know whether they went on their own or were invited. I am not sure.” Sonam, bringing her experience to the floor, said, "No, no you can't go if you are not invited or paying for it." Then, Karan Johar said, "Well, you can show up, and start walking on the Croisette. That anyone can do."
Here comes Arjun Kapoor's query, who was calmly listening to the entire conversation. "So what you get ready and just walk around there and somebody takes your photos?". KJo replied with a firm "yeah." Well, well, it seems Sonam Kapoor couldn't digest this. The visibly shocked actress said, "What I don't understand. What has happened in the last one-year guys?" To Arjun Kapoor, the entire thing sounded like "we are outside Bastian doing that."
Karan Johar, who looked quite okay with what's happening in today's world, said, " Yeah, a lot of people are doing it everywhere." Well, it didn't stop there. The director went on to compare anyone showing up on the Cannes red carpet to influencers going to airports and restaurants just for getting themselves clicked.
Sonam Kapoor, who still looked in shock, said, “But honestly, I just saw Deepika Padukone on the red carpet. Who else was there? There was nobody else on there on the red carpet.” To this, Karan Johar said that there were quite a few celebrities from India, including Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. For Ash, Sonam agreed, "Yes, Aishwarya was on the red carpet because of L'Oreal." To Karan Johar's "many others on the red carpet" claim, she added, “I haven't seen, sorry.”
Sonam Kapoor, during this entire conversation, also asked Karan Johar to share his views on Cannes 2022. As per the filmmaker, “It wasn't up to speed.” He also added, "Deepika Padukone looked stunning."
Sonam Kapoor also said that there were a lot of messages after she decided not to show up on the Cannes 2022 red carpet this year.
