Chennai: The International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) will organise the IIFA Utsavam for the first time to celebrate the South Indian cinema.
The three-day IIFA Utsavam was launched with a curtain-raiser on November 3 that was attended by celebrities like Kamal Haasan, Nagarjuna, Tamannaah Bhatia, Venkatesh Daggubati, Allu Aravind, D Suresh Babu, Gemini Kiran, Allu Sirish, Devi Sri Prasad and more in Hyderabad. The award ceremony will be held in a grand manner at Gachibowli Outdoor Stadium On November 5 and 6.
The event was warmly welcomed by all the Southern stars as it brought together the four major industries of the South - Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.
"IIFA Utsavam is a wonderful initiative taken by the International Indian Film Academy to help build the outreach of film industries across India. Given the global acclaim of the IIFA platform, I am confident that it will become an instant opportunity for greater recognition to South Indian film industries and our work," said Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan.

Southern stars turn in full force to vote
Meanwhile, the last day of industry voting in Chennai November 4 saw several stars including actors Nasser, R Madhavan, Simran and Hansika Motwani, casting their vote for the best in the industry. All of them welcomed the move of the award ceremony coming down to South. At the event, veteran director P Vasu also said that he waited for ten years for IIFA to come to South India.
