I've not been aggressive about my Bollywood career: Sameera

Highlights

  • She has acted in only 11 Bollywood films in her decade-long-career but actress Sameera Reddy has no regrets about her short filmography, insisting she has always been casual towards her profession.
  • Sameera, who started her career with the 2002 release Maine Dil Tujhko Diya, said there is more to her than just acting and she likes to enjoy life.
  • "I have always been someone who has put life and heart before work. I have taken time off and gone for vacations. When I was 20, I didn't work all day, I travelled the world, did what I wanted to which most actors don't. I have been kind of laid back and not that aggressive. And I have no regrets," Sameera said.
  • The 29-year-old actress has mostly been part of multi-starrers like Darna Mana Hai, De Dana Dan, Race and her upcoming film Tezz also has stars like Anil Kapoor, Ajay Devgn and Kangna Ranaut.
  • However, Sameera says she has no issues being part of a huge star cast and isn't worried about being over-shadowed by others.
  • "I go with the characters and my roles have always stood out. I pick up characters which reach out to me. I don't believe in a solo role which doesn't have any meaning. This film's (Tezz) USP is the action I am doing. I have always done justice to my role and I don't worry about being overshadowed," she said.
  • Tezz, an action-thriller directed by Priyadarshan, was physically demanding and required Sameera to be fit. But the actress says she enjoyed the whole process of filming and doing all the action stunts.
  • "You will see me doing a lot of action - riding bikes, jumping off rafts, diving in water that is 2 degrees... it was mad, nervous and exciting. I love action, I ride a bike in real life but doing it in a movie and at a high speed is a different kind of experience.I have seen actresses doing action in films but with safety harness or body doubles. I felt like Lara Croft while doing stunts," Sameera said.
  • The actress, who was last seen on the big screen two years back in Red Alert: The War Within, says she isn't bothered about not being regular in Bollywood films thanks to her career down South.
  • "I have actually been doing so many films in so many different languages. India is not only about Bollywood. I am not focusing on one industry and I have a fantastic fan following all around India. Every community has it's own star and to be a part of that is amazing. It fulfils me more rather than being just one person," said Sameera, who has acted in Tamil, Telugu and Bengali films too.
