Days after Mukesh Bhatt broke his silence on the delay of Emraan Hashmi's Awarapan 2, the actor has also responded, saying that he is not doing the film out of "nostalgia." The film has been "planned for seven years". He also addressed the virality of Aryan Khan's The Ba***ds of Bollywood, and how his cameo blew up.

- In a conversation with SCREEEN, Emraan Hashmi mentioned that not just The Ba***ds of Bollywood, but also Suparn Varma's Haq, in which he starred alongside Yami Gautam, has been receiving rave reviews.
- Emraan said, "It's good that Ba***ds worked, and that cameo blew up. Haq is apparently a huge, smashing hit. It's #6 worldwide on the worldwide charts."
- Furthermore, he added, "I don't think anyone owes anyone anything. But it's been fruitful. You don't plan for this. You just do good work. How things get accepted, blown up, and loved by the audience is not in our hands as artists. We've put in equal amounts of honesty and hard work into all these projects. It's just that the virality is not in our hands."
- Addressing the tag of a serial kisser that seems to follow him even today, he said, "Colloquially, popular culture draws things that have a sticking point. What that sticking point is, nobody knows. You just go out there and do your stuff. It just so happened that in my films, this happened to be a sticking point. You don't run away from it. You own that more than anything."
On Awarapan 2 Delay
Production house Vishesh Films, co-founded by Mukesh Bhatt and brother Mahesh Bhatt, has played a pivotal role in Emraan Hashmi's career, as he's related to them.
With Awarapan 2 in the works, the actor shared his opinion on whether taking on the film would undo the efforts he has made to distance himself from his past image.
He said, "I'm not doing Awarapan 2 for nostalgia. This film has been planned for the past seven years. We just happened to stumble upon a script. We were holding off on a sequel, but when we read a script that was taking Shivam's journey ahead, we got to it. It's not cashing in."
"We have done that in the past, and a lot of people have been party to that. But we have to see that the audience has now become so smart and perceptive. Social media is such a tricky affair. You can't be disingenuous with anything. You have a good script and heart in the right place; you'll make a good film. That's all there is to it," concluded the actor.

The team is led by Arjun Meena, portrayed by Emraan Hashmi. Other officers in the unit are played by Amruta Khanvilkar, Nandish Singh Sandhu, and Anurag Sinha.
The story follows how the team tracks smugglers who move illegal goods through secret routes across cities such as Al-Dera, Addis Ababa, Milan, and Bangkok. The officers are shown working under constant pressure, where even a minor error can undo weeks of painstaking investigation. Standing against them is a smuggling kingpin, Bada Chaudhary, played by Sharad Kelkar, who operates a vast network built on lies, forged documents, and hidden routes.
