New Delhi: Veteran actor Dilip Kumar, who was admitted to Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital on Wednesday for dehydration, is doing fine now, his wife Saira Banu told news agency PTI. "He is doing much better than yesterday. But he will be in hospital today. The doctors here are taking good care of him," Ms Banu, a former actress, said. Dilip Kumar, 94, was also suffering from fever. The screen legend has been admitted to the hospital several times in the last few years for a variety of medical problems. He even celebrated his 94th birthday on December 11 last year in hospital. Dilip Kumar married Saira Banu, his co-star of films such as Sagina and Bairag, in 1966.

Dilip Kumar, who is quite active on Twitter, also joined Facebook last April. On Twitter, he keeps his fans and well-wishers posted about his health status. Dilip saab thanked his followers for their birthday wishes in December. "Your love and affection has been so enduring and touching, your heartfelt messages on this medium brought tears to my eyes," he wrote. In a series of tweets, Mr Kumar also sent his Eid wishes recently.
 
 
 
 

Dilip Kumar was admitted to the hospital last December because of a swollen leg and fever. In April 2016, he was hospitalised after complaining of respiratory problems.

Qilla, which released in 1998, was Dilip Kumar's last film. He is known for performances in films like Aan, Madhumati, Devdas, Mughal-e-Azam, Naya Daur, Ganga Jamuna and Karma.

Dilip Kumar was honoured with the Padma Bhushan in 1991, the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1994 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2015.
