London: About two billion people worldwide are expected to watch Prince William marry his fiancee Kate Middleton at Westminster Abbey on April 29, the British culture secretary said today.

Briefing cabinet ministers during their weekly meeting, Jeremy Hunt said the wedding "is likely to be a major global event viewed by around two billion people around the world", according to a government statement.

He added that with just over three weeks to go before the big day, "arrangements for the royal wedding are going well".
