Rustom is based on the famous Nanavati case of 1959 that led to the scrapping of the jury system in India. Akshay's Rustom Pavri is presumably a fictionalized version of Commander Kawas Manekshaw Nanavati, a naval officer who was tried for murdering his wife's lover.
The film also stars Ileana D'Cruz, Arjan Bajwa and Esha Gupta.
Rustom will hit screens on August 12, when it will clash with Hrithik Roshan's Mohenjo Daro, directed by Ashutosh Gowarikar.
