New Delhi: A civil liberty group today moved the Election Commission alleging that AAP candidate from Mumbai North-East constituency Medha Patkar has concealed facts in her election affidavit.

The National Council for Civil Liberties approached the poll panel after the returning officer rejected their complaint. The group claimed that Ms Patkar had only mentioned the amount and name of the bank in her affidavit but not the account number.

It also claimed that she has also not disclosed the status of a 2002 criminal case filed against her in the Sessions Court, Badwani in Madhya Pradesh. "She has also not disclosed that she is the founder of Narmada Bachao Andolan (NBA), an organisation whose activists are facing more than 100 criminal cases in MP," the petition said.

It asked the Election Commission to reconsider the order of the Returning Officer and reject her nomination papers, "by invoking inherent extraordinary powers of the Commission and also initiate proceedings of perjury against her."
