IGNOU Turns To Social Media To Teach Students During Lockdown

IGNOU has resorted to non-conventional channels to educate students in the lockdown

With lockdown extension becoming a possibility, educational institutes are shifting to online learning resources more than ever. Education institutes, apart from the traditional resources, are also employing non-traditional channels to connect with students and continue the teaching work.

IGNOU, the largest distance university, has become proactive and has been teaching students through multiple non-conventional channels. IGNOU has been conducting online classes through Facebook Live sessions and has been organizing talks on its official Twitter handle. Following HRD and UGC guidelines, IGNOU professors are also available through email.

The University has also updated its student's app. The app is available on Google Play for download. Students can also find the link to download the app on University's website.

IGNOU has also stopped the supply of study material in view of the precautionary measures taken by the Government to prevent Covid-19 and stoppage of complete delivery system across the country. Students, who opted for postal delivery of study material, can for the time-being access the study material on IGNOU e-Gyankosh and IGNOU's students app.

Meanwhile, the university has extended the exam form submission date for June 2020 Term End Examination up to April 30. In order to appear for the Term End Exam, students need to submit their assignments and to facilitate the process during the lockdown, IGNOU has agreed to accept assignment submission through email.
