Juveniles run amok at facility where Delhi gang-rape accused is housed
New Delhi: Almost two dozen boys at a juvenile home in north Delhi, where one of the accused in the Delhi gang-rape case is housed, gave the authorities a sleepless Wednesday night.

The juveniles climbed the roof of the building, set fire to the blankets and even hurled stones at the caretakers and firefighters trying to contain the ruckus.

Officials however said the juvenile accused in the December 16 gang-rape case remained away. As soon as the ruckus started, he was taken to a safe room by the authorities.

Sources said the juveniles had an altercation with the security guards posted at the complex, located at the Majnu Ka Tila area in the national capital. The tiff led to violence following which the guards fled.

Once the complex was without guards, the juveniles went on a rampage, burning furniture and records, and breaking doors separating the three buildings within the complex.

The chaos lasted around five hours, ending with the arrival of the magistrate and an inquiry team.

Though some children alleged that they were beaten up, the inquiry team did not find any child injured. The probe team is also trying to find out how they got matchboxes inside the complex.
