Samajwadi Party, BSP men clash in Jhansi, one killed
Jhansi: Even more than three weeks after a regime change in Uttar Pradesh, political rivalries continue to play out on the streets of Uttar Pradesh in the form of violent clashes between party workers. One person was killed on Saturday night when workers of the Samajwadi Party clashed with local Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) workers in the Siya village of Jhansi.

Krishna Pal Singh, a Samajwadi Party worker, was killed in the gunbattle that broke out between workers of the two parties after they had an argument. Four other party workers - two from the SP and the two from BSP - also suffered bullet wounds and have been admitted to the district hospital.

What led to the argument is still not clear, but the two groups are arch political rivals, and have had a history of violent local clashes.
