Pregnant woman allegedly poisoned by husband
Delhi: A 42-year-old pregnant woman was killed after her husband Rajiv Sharma allegedly gave her medicine laced with poison, the police said late on Tuesday night.

Sunita Sharma was rushed to a hospital but she succumbed to the complications on the way. This was the victim's second marriage.

A senior police officer said Rajiv Sharma was arrested after the deceased's family approached the cops.

"The deceased Sunita Sharma got married with the accused, Rajiv Sharma, around two years ago. It was her second marriage after divorce. She was two months pregnant. Sunita's family members have alleged that she was poisoned by Rajiv for dowry," the officer said.

Speaking to this reporter, Kamna, the victim's niece, alleged that Rajiv was demanding Rs 3 lakh to open a restaurant and when the family refused, he poisoned Sunita.

"My aunt divorced her first husband due to dowry demands and the same thing was being repeated here. Even though she was pregnant, Rajiv poisoned her. He did not inform us about her death; it was his other relatives who called us. Rajiv wanted to make it look like a natural death," alleged Kamna.
