Gujarat High Court gets new chief justice

Ahmedabad: Newly appointed Chief Justice of Gujarat High Court Justice S J Mukhopadhyay will be sworn-in on Wednesday at a function at Raj Bhawan in Gandhinagar.

Announcement for Justice Mukhopadhyay's appointment as Chief Justice of Gujarat High Court was made by the President of India on Monday.

Gujarat Governor Dr Kamla will administer the oath of office to the Chief Justice, who was the senior most judge in Madras High Court before his appointment.

Justice Mukhopadhyay will take over as Chief Justice from Justice M S Shah, who was acting Chief Justice following the elevation of Justice K S Radhakrishnan to the Supreme Court.

According to Raj Bhavan sources, Chief Minister Narendra Modi, his Cabinet colleagues, High Court judges and senior government officials will remain present during the swearing-in ceremony of the Chief Justice.
