Drizzle, wind leave Bangalore cold

Bangalore: Bangaloreans on Thursday experienced the chilly weather in all its glory. The not-so-light drizzle, accompanied by wind, dropped the mercury a few notches. Many were taken by surprise and were seen running around for shelter to avoid the rain showers. This, according to Indian Meteorological department (IMD) officials, would continue for the next couple of days.

IMD-Bangalore director B Puttanna said most parts of south and coastal Karnataka were experiencing easterly waves, due to which there were clouds looming. There was also an upper-air cyclonic circulation over south-west Bay of Bengal, adjoining south Tamil Nadu and Sri Lanka, extending between 2.1- 5.8 km above sea level. While the magnitude has reduced, coastal and south Karnataka will continue to experience light to moderate rainfall for the next two days (measuring up to 3-4 cm).

He pointed that while the minimum temperature in the city was above normal, the maximum had reduced, causing the nip in the air. With the winds blowing at 4 kmph, the normal minimum temperature remained about 16 degrees Celsius while the maximum was 26 degrees Celsius. The rainfall predicted for the month is two cm.

At HAL Airport, the maximum temperature recorded was 26.8 degrees Celsius while the minimum stayed at 19.7 degrees, with no rainfall, till 5.30 pm. IMD has forecast clouds with light showers in the next 48 hours. There will also be fog in the mornings and late at nights.
