The Amruthhalli police station in Bengaluru turned into a virtual battleground after a conman posing as finance manager was beaten up badly by his wife and lover for cheating on them.
Lakshmipathy, the accused, who is a resident of T Dasarahalli in Bengaluru is married with a five-year-old daughter. While doing odd jobs, he stumbled upon an idea, and started posing as a finance manager for an IT major to socialise, and gather contacts for his personal gain.
During this stint, he came across Renuka Roshini (changed name), who is separated from her husband, and works for another IT major. Posing as unmarried and gainfully employed, Lakshmipathy befriended Roshini. The two became close friends, and later, became intimate. Lakshmipathy made a promise to marry her.
But soon, he showed his true colours. Not only did he use her physically, Lakshmipathy also started to borrow money from Roshini. "In the last 6 months, he withdrew close to Rs 1.2 lakh using her debit card," one of Roshini's relatives said.
As time passed, Lakshmipathy started behaving indifferently. Roshini got suspicious, and started trailing him. Soon, to her shock, she found out Lakshmipathy's married status.
When Roshni confronted him, Lakshmipathy started avoiding her following which she took the help of an NGO, and filed a complaint at the Amruthhalli police station.
The police detained Lakshmipathy yesterday for questioning and summoned his wife and lover for clarifications. The duo along with the NGO members stormed into the police station, dragged him out and beaten him black and blue.
"The duo were so angry and humiliated about his misdeeds, they vent their anger by showering blows and punches on him", said a police officer adding that when Lakshmipathy collapsed exhausted the duo kicked him and beat him with slippers.
Finally, the police intervened and brought the situation under control. The police have taken up a case of rape and cheating against Lakshmipathy. Both the wife and lover have been sent for medical examination to verify their claims, the police said.
