It forms a part of the Panoramic View Monitor system (360-degree camera), which handles the display of the rear-view image.

Toyota has stated that the recall will require reprogramming the software to maintain optimal performance. The automaker confirmed that there have been no related incidents reported in the Indian market thus far.

The official recall states, "An error in the software of this ECU may cause: The Rearview image to freeze briefly during the backing event if reverse is selected within a specific time after ignition is turned on; or the rearview image not to display on the next ignition on if the ignition is turned on or off within a specific time."

The recall has been initiated as a precautionary and proactive step. Toyota also mentioned that its authorized dealer representatives will directly reach out to each customer to arrange the recall inspection and software update. This process will be conducted at no cost at Toyota service centers nationwide.

The Toyota Camry is currently sold at a starting price of Rs 47.48 lakh (ex-showroom). Meanwhile, the luxurious MPV, Vellfire, starts at 1.19 crore (ex-showroom), and the Land Cruiser comes at a starting price of Rs 2.15 crore (ex-showroom).
