India's electric vehicle market is preparing for a significant expansion in 2026, with several new models expected to be priced under Rs 20 lakh. This shift is being driven by growing competition among automakers and the need to capture the mass-market segment. Companies such as Maruti Suzuki, Toyota, and others are set to launch electric cars that promise improved driving ranges, practical features, and competitive pricing. Together, these launches are aimed at making EVs more accessible to a wider base of consumers. To highlight what's coming, we have compiled a list of five models that are likely to attract considerable attention in the year ahead.
Tata Punch EV
Tata Motors recently unveiled the updated Punch EV facelift, following the release of the modified ICE variant of the SUV. The company is set to launch the battery electric vehicle version of the micro SUV on February 20.

Under the hood, the Punch EV facelift will maintain the same battery options of 25 kWh and 35 kWh. The smaller variant produces 82 hp and 114 Nm of torque, providing a range of approximately 265 km, while the larger version generates 122 hp and 190 Nm of torque, delivering up to 365 km on a single charge.

Tata Sierra EV
Tata's Sierra is set to debut in an all-electric avatar, built on the Acti.EV+ platform, with a launch expected in the first half of 2026. Buyers will get a choice of two battery packs - 55kWh and 65kWh - while dual-motor all-wheel drive will be offered right from the start. The EV will feature distinct styling updates compared to the ICE Sierra, particularly at the front, and its cabin will adopt a modern, tech-rich design.
Maruti Suzuki e Vitara
Maruti Suzuki is set to enter the electric vehicle arena with the e Vitara. Positioned against models like the Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra BE6, MG ZS EV, Tata Curvv EV, and others in the same segment, the car will be launched in 2026. It offers a five-star safety rating with 49 kWh and 61 kWh battery pack options. The maximum range yielded from these options is claimed to be 543 km on a single charge.

Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella
Toyota has already showcased the rebadged version of the e Vitara, called the Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella. gets two battery pack options: 49 kWh and 61 kWh. The variant with the bigger battery pack is powered by a 171.6 hp electric motor, which gives it 189 Nm of torque. While the smaller 49 kWh variant gets a 106 hp electric motor. With a maximum range of 543 km on a single charge, the electric SUV offers the options of 2WD and AWD drivetrains.
Kia Syros EV
Kia India launched the Syros SUV in the Indian market in February 2025. The brand now plans to introduce an electric powertrain version of this SUV, which will expand its range of electric vehicles (EVs) available in India.

The Kia Syros EV will likely be built on the K1 platform, which serves as the base for models like the Hyundai Casper, Inster, and Exter available in other markets. This indicates that the electric Syros will operate with a front-wheel drive setup. It could utilize the battery packs from the Hyundai Inster, which include options of 42 kWh and 49 kWh.
