Simple Ultra Electric Scooter Launched - Offers Tata Tiago EV's Range, KTM 250 Duke's Price

Simple Energy has launched the Ultra electric scooter in the Indian market at a price of Rs 2.35 lakh (ex-showroom). The new electric two-wheeler of the brand was unveiled earlier this year, along with the Gen 2 lineup, and is now available for bookings. It claims a range of 400 km on a single charge, which is more than most models in the segment by a huge margin. So much so that the claim puts it in the league of electric cars available in the Indian market. More on that later.

Simple Ultra: Range, Specs

The claimed 400 km IDC range of Simple Ultra is supported by a 6.5 kWh battery pack placed in the floorboard and the body of the electric scooter. In terms of performance, the scooter can reach a top speed of up to 115 kmph and can go from 0-40 kmph in 2.77 seconds. The acceleration numbers are claimed to be the second fastest in the brand's lineup after the Simple One.

Supporting the rider are features like four levels of traction control and a seven-inch touchscreen, which manages the ride data. Additionally, it opens doors to various connectivity features available with the model.

Tata Tiago EV: Range

To provide some context for the headline, the Tata Tiago EV is one of the most affordable electric cars available in the Indian market, with a starting price of Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom). In its Long Range variant, the vehicle offers a range of 293 km on a single charge, utilizing a 24 kWh battery pack. While there are other models in the market that provide a range of around 400 km on a single charge.

The comparison may seem unfair due to differences in vehicle class, weight, features, and other factors. However, it highlights the value proposition that the electric scooter presents. Notably, this is available at the price point of a 250 cc motorcycle, such as the KTM 250 Duke, which is priced at Rs 2.17 lakh (ex-showroom).
