India's electric vehicle market is gearing up for a major influx of electric cars under Rs 20 lakh in 2026, driven by increasing competition. The list of models includes EVs from some of the major automakers in the country, like Maruti Suzuki, Toyota, and others, promising better ranges, features, and pricing to capture the mass-market segment. Here we have compiled a list of five models that are likely to gain consumers' attention.

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara

Maruti Suzuki is set to enter the electric vehicle arena with the e Vitara. Positioned against models like the Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra BE6, MG ZS EV, Tata Curvv EV, and others in the same segment, the car will be launched in 2026. It offers a five-star safety rating with 49 kWh and 61 kWh battery pack options. The maximum range yielded from these options is claimed to be 543 km on a single charge.

Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella

Recently unveiled for the Indian market, the Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella shares its underpinnings with the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara. It offers choices of 49 kWh and 61 kWh battery packs, but with a completely different design aligned with the automaker's style. With a maximum range of 543 km on a single charge, the SUV will be sold with the option of Battery-as-a-Service in the Indian market.

VinFast Limo Green

Expected to compete with models like the BYD eMax 7, the Vinfast Limo Green is a crossover-like MPV that accommodates 5+2 passengers, set to launch next year. It features a 60.1 kWh battery that powers a motor mounted on the front axle, generating 201 hp, and boasts a claimed range of 450 km on a full charge in the Vietnamese market.

VinFast VF3

The Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer Vinfast is likely to launch the VF3. This compact, square-shaped tall-boy has a ground clearance of 191 mm and is equipped with an 18.6 kWh battery that powers a 43.5 hp motor. Pricing is anticipated to fall between Rs 8 lakh and Rs 10 lakh upon its arrival in the first half of next year.

Tata Punch EV Facelift

Tata has recently introduced an updated version of the Punch in the Indian market. It now features a turbo petrol engine as well. Tata also offers the Punch EV, which has been performing well in sales. With the recent update to the Punch, the Punch EV is expected to receive similar enhancements, including a redesigned front grille, headlights, bumper, alloy wheels, tail lamps connected by an LED bar, and more. The EV mechanical components will likely remain unchanged, with options for 25 kWh and 35 kWh battery packs.
