Renault has reintroduced the Duster nameplate in the Indian market, paying special attention to its competition. Hence, they seem to have prepared Duster to hold its ground against rivals like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Victoris, Tata Sierra, Honda Elevate, and others. The most obvious advantage is in the form of a lower price compared to others. For context, Duster starts at Rs 10.49 lakh (ex-showroom), undercutting others in the segment. However, that's not the only weapon in its arsenal. Here are five more advantages that the French SUV has over rivals.

Power-Packed Turbo Petrol Engine

While fans still might miss the diesel engine option, the Renault Duster has made sure that it doesn't feel like a big miss by offering one of the most powerful engines in the budget. It comes with a 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine, which is tuned to put out 163 hp of power and 280 Nm of torque, putting it among the top rankers. If that's not enough, it has got the biggest hybrid engine with 1.8-litre capacity and a 1.4 kWh battery pack. The total output for this system stands at 160 hp and 172 Nm.

Segment First Wet Clutch DCT

The turbo petrol engine is paired with a six-speed DCT gearbox with a wet clutch. This is the first in the segment and is better suited for use in Indian conditions. It solves the problem of overheating after prolonged use in traffic, an issue common with DCTs with a dry clutch. This makes it more durable as well.

Google-Powered Tech

The SUV also gets an OpenR Link multimedia system, which transforms the SUV's interior into a software-oriented digital centre. Featuring a dual-display cockpit and integrated Google services, unlike traditional infotainment systems that serve as extensions of smartphones, OpenR Link is based on Android Automotive OS and operates natively within the vehicle. This allows navigation, applications, voice services, and vehicle functionalities to run independently while still being compatible with smartphone platforms for those who choose to use them.

A key feature for Indian customers is the built-in Google Maps, which operates directly on the infotainment system. Tailored for the larger display, it offers live traffic updates, lane guidance, route adjustments, and continuously updated maps, essential for navigating India's busy urban areas.

Subscription Plan

The plan offers a no down payment option with all on-road costs and service charges included. Customers can choose from multiple tenure and mileage options to suit their needs, along with the flexibility to extend the term, return the vehicle, or buy it at the end of the plan.

Warranty

Renault is offering a warranty of 7 years or 1.5 lakh km on the new Duster. Unlike other brands, this warranty is transferable to subsequent buyers as well. Renault has made this move to ensure that the Duster's resale value remains strong.
