Mahindra has rolled out two major launches, sparking excitement among SUV enthusiasts. The updated XUV700, now rebadged as the XUV7XO, arrives with refreshed appeal, while just days earlier, the company introduced the XEV 9S, its new flagship electric SUV. Positioned at the top of Mahindra's EV portfolio, the XEV 9S highlights the brand's push toward electrification, whereas the 7XO continues evolving its successful ICE lineage. Together, these launches strengthen Mahindra's presence in both conventional and electric SUV segments. Here's a closer look at what differentiates them.

Mahindra XUV 7XO And Mahindra XEV 9S: Powertrain Specs

The Mahindra XUV 7XO offers two engine choices: a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol producing 203 hp and a 2.2-litre diesel delivering 185 hp. Both units can be paired with manual or automatic gearboxes, while the diesel-automatic variant additionally provides an optional all-wheel-drive system for enhanced versatility.

Meanwhile, the Mahindra XEV 9S is offered exclusively as an electric SUV with three battery pack configurations: 59 kWh, 70 kWh, and 79 kWh. Also, the XEV 9S, a three-row EV, is restricted to a rear-wheel-drive layout.

Viewed from the side profile, the Mahindra XUV 7XO and XEV 9S share striking similarities. Both SUVs feature flush door handles, darkened B, C, and D-pillars, along with a distinctive kink in the window line near the C-pillar. Low-mounted, blacked-out roof rails further emphasise their common design DNA. The key distinction lies in functionality: the XEV 9S, being electric, integrates a charging port where the XUV 7XO houses its fuel filler.

Wheel designs also set them apart. The XEV 9S employs 18-inch dual-tone alloys shaped for aerodynamic efficiency, aiding range. In contrast, the XUV 7XO offers larger 19-inch dual-tone wheels, prioritizing a sportier stance and road presence over efficiency.

Cabin themes further differentiate the two. The XUV 7XO blends black, tan, and beige for a warm, layered look, whereas the XEV 9S opts for a lighter off-white and grey palette. Seat designs remain consistent across both models, with the variation limited to colour schemes.

Shared equipment includes three 12.3-inch displays offered from base trims, a 6-way powered driver's seat with memory and welcome-retract functions, a similarly powered co-driver's seat with boss mode, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, panoramic sunroof, ventilated seating for the first two rows, and wireless charging pads for both front and rear passengers.
