KTM RC390 was first launched in the Indian market in 2014. Since then, the motorcycle has been updated twice, with the most recent update this year. In around 11 years of its presence in the market, the middle-weight supersport has brought good sales numbers for the automaker, standing firm against competition. However, the story of the model is different in the international market after spending a decade in dealerships.
KTM RC390 Discontinued
Owing to a muted response from consumers in the international market, the Austrian manufacturer has decided to bid farewell to the RC390. Based on MCN's report, the single-cylinder machine has not had enough demand in the market. Furthermore, the cost of updating the 373 cc engine to meet the Euro5+ emission standards would have pushed its prices higher, while the demand remains slow, leading to its proverbial ride into the sunset.

Why Continue Selling In India?
The existing stock of the KTM RC390 in dealerships of the European market and the UK will be sold through 2026. Meanwhile, the Indian market will continue to have the machine because the demand remains high enough to keep it surviving. Adding to the advantages, the motorcycle is manufactured in the Indian market under the umbrella of Bajaj Auto, which is KTM's parent company.

KTM RC450
Recently, the internet was abuzz with leaked spy shots of the KTM RC450. This will likely be the replacement RC390 in the international market. It shares its underpinnings with the CFMoto 450R-S, which uses a 499 cc parallel-twin engine and a single-sided swingarm. The unit on the CFMoto produces 51 hp, which will likely be increased on the KTM.
