Kia is gearing up to diversify its electric car portfolio in the Indian market. After introducing the EV6 and EV9, the brand is now focusing on the Syros EV for the mass market segment. The Syros EV was previously spotted on test overseas last month. However, now the Syros EV has been snapped at a charging station in India. While the Syros EV test mule was spotted with heavy camouflage, it does hint at the overall design of Kia's Nexon EV rival.
Starting with the exterior, the spy shots suggest that the Kia Syros EV will carry the same design and style highlights of its ICE cousin. However, it will get some EV-specific elements like the closed-off grille and a charging port on its left profile. The shark fin antenna, ORVMs, B-pillars, and the lighting elements have been carried forward from the Kia Syros (ICE).

On the inside, the Kia Syros EV is expected to retain the design and features of its ICE sibling. However, reports suggest that it will operate on the upgraded EV-specific software for the displays and may feature different trims and upholstery as well. The list of features is expected to remain unchanged.

While the brand has not yet revealed the details about the powertrain, the Kia Syros EV is likely to borrow the power unit from the Hyundai Inster EV. The internationally available Inster EV uses either a 42-kWh or 49-kWh battery (available as options), both based on Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) chemistry. With the larger battery, it can travel up to 370 km on a full charge. Fast charging from 10% to 80% takes about 30 minutes.
