Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) and Stellantis have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to explore potential collaboration in vehicle development for the United States market. The agreement, which is currently non-binding, marks JLR's first such partnership with a major American automotive player and signals a strategic move to strengthen its presence in the region.

According to the companies, the MoU is aimed at identifying synergies in product engineering and technology development. The collaboration is expected to focus on sharing capabilities that can enhance efficiency while supporting long-term growth plans in the US. However, the agreement is still subject to regulatory approvals and will require further legally binding contracts before any concrete projects are implemented.

PB Balaji, Chief Executive Officer of JLR, noted that the collaboration could open up new opportunities for the company. He stated that working with Stellantis would allow JLR to explore complementary strengths in areas such as product development and advanced technologies, which are critical for expanding its footprint in the competitive US automotive market.

Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa echoed similar sentiments, stating that the partnership will help both companies evaluate ideas that can benefit their respective portfolios. He added that the focus would remain on delivering products and technologies that align with evolving customer expectations.

The development also comes in the context of Stellantis' recent collaborations in other markets, including India. In February 2026, Stellantis signed an MoU with Tata Motors to assess potential partnerships across manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain operations, further strengthening their long-standing association.

Additionally, Tata Motors had previously agreed with JLR to co-develop electric vehicles on a shared platform, with production planned at its Ranipet facility in Tamil Nadu. These ongoing partnerships highlight a broader trend of strategic alliances aimed at optimising resources and accelerating innovation.
