Hyundai has unveiled the Ioniq V at Auto China 2026 as its first China-exclusive all-electric model. It is positioned as a key part of the brand's renewed push into the world's largest EV market. The liftback-style sedan is based on the previously showcased Venus concept and will be sold only in China for the foreseeable future.
Design
Styled under Hyundai's new EV design language "The Origin," the Ioniq V features a sleek, coupe-like silhouette, full-LED lighting, aggressive daytime running lamps, frameless doors, and low-profile tyres to underline its sporty, premium image. At 4,900 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width, and riding on a 2,900 mm wheelbase, the car is tuned for spaciousness and presence on Chinese roads.

Interior
Inside, the Ioniq V carries over the Venus concept's cabin with minimal change, headlined by a 27-inch 4K panoramic display that spans the dashboard for infotainment and secondary vehicle information. A wide-format colour head-up display sits in front of the driver, while a 3-spoke touch-enabled steering wheel, ambient lighting, and an 8-speaker Dolby Atmos-equipped sound system aim to elevate comfort and connectivity.

Hyundai says the spacious cabin offers segment leading legroom of 1,078 mm in the front and 1,019 mm in the rear, along with best-in-class shoulder room of 1,502 mm and 1,473 mm for front and rear passengers, respectively. The long wheelbase and flat floor contribute to what the company describes as a lounge like interior ambience suited to modern Chinese buyers.
Safety and Driver Assistance
On the safety front, the Ioniq V features a reinforced body structure and a nine airbag system, underscoring Hyundai's emphasis on occupant protection in this China-specific model. A suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) has been developed in collaboration with Chinese tech firm Momenta, with algorithms tuned specifically for local traffic patterns and road conditions.

Range, Platform
The Ioniq V is built on an 800-volt architecture co-developed with local partner Beijing Automotive Group (BAIC), with battery packs supplied by CATL, the world's largest battery manufacturer. Hyundai confirms that the long range version claims more than 600 km of driving on China's CLTC cycle, implying a lower range variant will also be offered alongside it.
The 800-volt setup enables fast-charging capability, better aligning the car with Chinese consumers' expectations for quick top-ups and long distance usability. Hyundai has not yet disclosed detailed power output or acceleration figures, focusing instead on overall range and energy efficiency.
