Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has launched the NX500 adventure tourer motorcycle with e-clutch in the Indian market. The motorcycle comes at a starting price of Rs 7.44 lakh (ex-showroom) and will offer gear shifts without the use of the clutch lever. Meanwhile, the rest of the motorcycle stays the same without any changes in design or mechanics.

Honda NX500 E-Clutch

The E-Clutch used in the NX500 works by using a pair of electronic actuators to operate the clutch automatically when shifting gears. The system continues to work even when the motorcycle comes to a standstill and begins to move. Even with this, the rider has the option to control shifting manually with the conventional clutch lever and gear pedal.

The E-Clutch increases the weight of the motorcycle by 3 kilograms, bringing it up to 199kg with this system installed. Recently, Honda offered the CB650R and CBR650R with the E-Clutch option, though the units from the last shipment are already sold out. The motorcycles are not available for purchase at the moment.
