Honda BigWing has now teased its upcoming bike for the Indian market. Though it is the same CBR650R launched this year, it has now been updated with an e-clutch system. The e-clutch unit is likely to add 2 kg more to the total weight of the Honda CBR650R. The Honda CBR650R gets the clutchless unit in the international market, hinting at a launch in India as well.

The Honda CBR 650R retains the same engine as the current model in the Indian market. However, the CBR650R will now carry the e-clutch badging on the engine as seen on the international spec model. The Honda CBR 650R 649cc in-line four-cylinder engine, connected to a 6-speed gearbox that propels a peak power and torque output of 95 hp and 63 Nm, respectively.

The Honda CBR650R will have options for manual and automatic control of the clutch lever. The unit utilises the already existing gearbox and DCT unit, however, the integration of several sensors and actuators for the e-clutch tech has added 2kg to the CBR 650R.

Honda has been working on newer technology for its customers, however it does retain the existing system. The e-clutch mechanism allows the rider to switch gears without engaging the clutch, manually. However, the clutch lever is fully functional and can be used in case the rider wishes to feel more control of the bike in his hand. The brand has also introduced customization options for its customers, where the users can select the stiffness of the gear shift. Also, it gets rider control that suggests gear shifts in case the speed does not comply with the gear position.

Honda is likely to increase the prices of the CBR650R with the introduction of the e-clutch system. The motorcycle is currently priced at Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
