Ahead of World Environment Day, Hero MotoCorp has launched its first flex-fuel motorcycles in the Indian market: the Hero Splendor Plus and HF Deluxe. The launch event was attended by Nitin Gadkari, the Minister of Road Transport and Highways, and Hardeep Singh Puri, the Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas. This initiative by one of India's largest two-wheeler manufacturers marks a significant milestone in promoting the use of alternative fuel options, particularly ethanol, in the country.

Hero Splendor Plus Flex Fuel

Launched at a starting price of Rs 82,710 (ex-showroom), one of the most popular names in the Indian motorcycle market now comes with an E85-compatible engine. The new Splendor Plus Flex Fuel is powered by a 97.2cc motor that produces 8 hp at 8,000 rpm and 8.3 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm when running on E85 fuel, giving it a slight performance edge over the standard version.

It also gets Flex Fuel compatibility from E20 to E85, Hero's patented i3S idle-stop-start tech, a new digital-analogue instrument cluster, side stand engine cut-off, tubeless tyres, and revised ECU and fuel system components to support the ethanol blend. To make it easily distinguishable, the motorcycle is finished in a new Black with Lime Yellow graphics scheme, adding a fresh visual appeal to the familiar commuter design.

Hero HF Deluxe Flex Fuel

Relatively more affordable, the Hero HF Deluxe flex fuel comes at Rs 72,792 (ex-showroom). It is powered by a 97.2cc engine that delivers 8 hp at 8,000 rpm and 8.3 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm when running on E85 fuel, making it a more ethanol-ready version of the popular commuter motorcycle. It comes with Flex Fuel compatibility from E20 to E85.

Talking of features, the motorcycle gets a new digital-analogue instrument cluster, side stand engine cut-off, tubeless tyres, revised ECU, and upgraded fuel system components, along with a new Black with Lime Yellow graphics scheme for a fresher look.

Nitin Gadkari, Hon'ble Minister of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) said, “India is rapidly advancing the adoption of alternative fuels and cleaner mobility technologies. Hero MotoCorp's introduction of Flex Fuel motorcycles in the mass segment is a significant step towards reducing crude oil imports, supporting ethanol adoption, empowering farmers, and strengthening the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat.”

Such innovations will further strengthen India's biofuels ecosystem, create greater value for our farmers and support the vision of a self-reliant and sustainable energy future under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
