Ducati has officially entered India's off-road motorcycle segment with the launch of the Desmo450 MX, priced at Rs 17.24 lakh (ex-showroom). The motocross machine arrives nearly a year after its global debut and marks the Italian manufacturer's first purpose-built dirt bike for the Indian market. Designed specifically for competitive off-road riding, the Desmo450 MX combines lightweight construction, advanced electronics and Ducati's signature Desmodromic engine technology.
Ducati Desmo450 MX: Design
The Ducati Desmo450 MX has been engineered purely for motocross performance, featuring a minimalist and race-focused design. Built around a lightweight aluminium perimeter frame, the chassis uses minimal weld points to improve structural rigidity while keeping overall weight low.
The bike has a wet weight of 104.8 kg (without fuel), making it extremely agile for off-road riding. As a dedicated motocross machine, it does not come with road-going equipment such as headlights, mirrors or indicators. This reinforces its purpose-built track and dirt-riding capabilities rather than everyday street use.
Ducati Desmo450 MX: Specs
At the heart of the motorcycle is a 449.6cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine that features Ducati's trademark Desmodromic valve system. The engine delivers 63.5 hp and 53.5 Nm of torque, with a rev limit of 11,900 rpm.
Ducati states that the engine has been tuned to deliver a wide powerband, providing strong torque at low and mid-range revs while maintaining strong performance at higher engine speeds.
Ducati Desmo450 MX: Hardware
The motorcycle uses a fully adjustable Showa USD front fork and a rear monoshock, offering 310 mm of suspension travel at the front and 301 mm at the rear, allowing it to handle demanding off-road terrain. Braking duties are handled by Brembo components, with a 260 mm disc at the front and a 240 mm disc at the rear.
