Interior Updates

Getting inside the cabin is a tad-bit easy now, with the arrival of new pillar-mounted grab-handles. The updated Mahindra Thar also gets power window switches on the door panel. Bits coming from the bigger Thar Roxx are - steering wheel (Not leather-wrapped here), 10.25-inch touchscreen unit with Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, sliding front armrest, and rear AC vents. The touch display will also show different parements like altitude, bank angle, pitch and yaw angles and more, under a suite called Adventure Stats.

Any Mechanical Changes?

The answer is No! The Mahindra Thar continues with the same engine-transmisison choices, along with the existing suspension setup and drivetrain. No changes have been made on the mechanical front, whatsoever. It gets three engine choices - 1.5L diesel, 2.2L diesel, and 2.0L turbo-petrol. Gearbox options include 6-speed MT and 6-speed AT.

What Could've Been Better?

The opportunity could've been used to sort out a few more niggles of the Thar 3-door, which owners have complained of, rather relentlessly. The mos prominent of all remains the ride quality. While the Roxx gets a more superior suspension setup, it is kept away from the Thar 3-door. The option of a 360-degree parking camera and ventilated seats could've also added to the list.
