High voter turnout reflection of anger against DMK govt: Jayalalithaa

High voter turnout reflection of anger against DMK govt: Jayalalithaa
Chennai: AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa on Thursday claimed that the high voter turnout for the Assembly polls in Tamil Nadu was a reflection of people's "anger" against the ruling DMK and their resolve to oust the Karunanidhi led government.

"People have come out in large numbers in a silent revolution to show their anger and to make sure the DMK government goes," Jayalalithaa told reporters in Chennai.

The Chief Electoral Officer had said on Wednesday that the polling percentage in Tamil Nadu was between 75 and 80 per cent.

Jayalalithaa lauded the Election Commission for conducting the polls in a "safe and secure" environment.

"The polling went off peacefully except for minor incidents here and there. So we must all complement the Election Commission for providing a safe and secure environment for voting," she said.
