Nitish Kumar on Narendra Modi: 'The cat is out of the bag'

Patna: With the Congress in overdrive mode today in countering Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi's theory that when in trouble, the Congress "hides behind the burqa (veil) of secularism," they found some support from the BJP's former ally Nitish Kumar.

Addressing a press conference, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar advised Mr Modi to learn to respect the religion of others and to mind his language.

Following are the highlights of his press conference:

  • (On Narendra Modi) The kind of language... This is why I sever my ties... it vindicates my stand to snap ties with BJP...
  • Today the environment was to unite against the Congress on the issue of corruption and price rise, but one party spoiled the entire thing in their obduracy
  • (On burqa  comment by Narendra Modi) If one community's women wear burqa, then why somebody 's objecting to that... Even Hindu women follow the system of covering their head
  • When you 're in power then please learn to respect other religions. Please learn to respect others... Please mind your language... you are in power
  • The cat is out of the bag
  • (On Right to Food) We will implement Right To Food in our state and have taken all the steps
  • (On Ram Jethmalani statement that he will get Lalu Yadav to support Narendra Modi) I've already said that RJD-BJP are in nexus. Ram Jethmalani is lawyer of lalu Yadav
  • This is serious ... I've been saying that they have an internal pact. When Lalu's lawyer said, it confirms my line
