2 Haj Houses To Be Constructed In Andhra Pradesh: Minister

The state government has allocated Rs 710 crore in the current financial year for the welfare of minorities.

Vijayawada: Two Haj houses will be constructed in Andhra Pradesh to facilitate smooth travel of pilgrims to Saudi Arabia from the state, Minister for Minority Welfare Palle Reghunadha Reddy said on Thursday.

The Haj houses will come up at Kadapa and Vijayawada, he told reporters in Vijayawada.

He outlined the measures taken by the TDP-led government for the welfare of minority communities in the state. "Every minority student wishing to study in a foreign country would be provided Rs 10 lakh scholarship. Those who intend to opt for higher education or prepare for competitive examinations also would be given financial aid," the Minister said.

The state government has allocated Rs 710 crore in the current financial year for the welfare of minorities, Mr Reddy added.
