Uttar Pradesh boils, temperature nears 48 degree Celsius
Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh continued to bear the brunt of scorching sun as mercury touched almost 48 degree Celsius in Allahabad.

Met office sources in Lucknow said that several districts recorded temperature above 40 degree Celsius with weather remaining dry over all divisions of the state.

Temperature remained above normal in Allahabad, Meerut divisions and appreciably above normal in Varanasi, Faizabad, Kanpur, Lucknow, Moradabad, Jhansi, Agra divisions.

Highest maximum temperature in the state was 47.8 degree Celsius at Allahabad followed by Banda 47.4 degree Celsius, Agra 47.1 degree Celsius, Hamirpur 46.6 degree Celsius, Jhansi 46.4 degree Celsius, Aligarh and Varanasi 45.2 degree Celsius and Meerut 45 degree Celsius which was three to five degrees above normal.

Heat wave conditions would continue to prevail in the state during the next 24 hours, Met sources added.
