They bought tickets, but didn't fly: Ahmedabad alert

Ahmedabad: The city police are on the look out for three men who have allegedly done a recce of the Sardar Patel Airport between March 22 and 26.

Officials of a private airline had complained to the CISF in-charge of airport security that three men had come to the their counter 3-4 times in the last week, purchased tickets and then cancelled it after moving around at the airport for a couple of hours, police said.

According to police, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), considering this as a major security issue, informed the local police which have registered a complaint against three unidentified persons.

"We are collecting documents relating to the matter and and are investigating further," Deputy Commissioner of police B R Pandor told PTI.

"Since this is a sensitive matter under investigation, we cannot divulge any details," he added.

Ahmedabad airport has been on high alert for the last three months after Union Home Ministry had warned the airport authorities of possible terror strike.

Nobody can enter the airport terminal if they are not travelling. So the three adopted a method of purchasing tickets, surveying the place and getting it cancelled after two to three hours, sources at the airport said.
